Always place above what you are becoming versus what you are today.
Focusing on your weaknesses will not allow you to flourish but cause you to remain in a state of disappointment. We tend to compare our weaknesses to other people’s strengths. Those people that we compare ourselves to also have weaknesses, so they are as flawed as we are, but in a different way.
Accepting that you have specific weaknesses allows you to make the necessary adjustments along the way. At times, it’s a painful process, but the reward will more than compensate for what you go through.
Rather than comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to yourself. I use the visualization of being in a wrestling ring, and my opponent on the other side is me – the old me. Me from yesterday or last week, or last month. Can I beat him? Has the work that I put in paid off? Only by focusing on the newest version of me can I know if I will win.
At times I liked the old me but was mostly disappointed. However, with every new version of me, I learned to love him! The best part is that I keep getting a new version regularly. It’s exciting.
Here’s a little secret, it’s not an exclusive club, anyone can join. Will you?
